Part of my is really happy dreamwidth doesn't have a "like" button, because it's nice not to feel like validation is measured by number of notes or whatever. On the other hand, when I see a post from someone that I like or agree with, but have absolutely nothing to say to contribute to it, I miss being able to just hit a little button that says "yes, good" without sounding like a weirdo shouting agreement from across the room.

I, for one, like random comments that are just "yes, good" :D

This is exactly how I feel, tbh. I know that DW's lack of a like/kudos/whatever button is part of what sustains the atmosphere and I don't want it to become a performative hellscape like Tumblr, but also ... /sigh.

"yes good" is a perfectly cromulent thing to type into a box :D

But I agree, especially when a friend posts a fic that I know has to get in line behind 1200 other fics I want to read but I still want to say, "oh hai you have a new fic coooooool" (psst the friend is you, I do want to read those)

I would consider "Yes, good" a perfectly acceptable comment, heh. I always think of entries as quiet chats in a circle instead of shouting, to be fair.

Back in the days when we all had way more icons, I remember those serving kind of the same function - "gratuitous icon post" was a thing.
